Pityriasis Lichenoides

What is Pityriasis Lichenoides (PL)?

It is an inflammatory skin condition that causes recurring bumps (papules) on the skin. The two main forms are PLEVA and PLC.

Who is at risk?

While there are no specific risk factors, it is more common in people under 30, with males being slightly more affected than females. PL can impact all races.

What are the signs and symptoms?

  • PLEVA: This form causes reddish-brown, oval bumps that can develop into blisters, pus-filled bumps, scabs, and sores. These may cause mild itching or burning, but are often asymptomatic.
  • PLC: This form has small, brown bumps with a fine scale that is more noticeable when scratched. These bumps can last for weeks or even months.
